A butterfly will get sick when its health drops to 0%. At that point, you will need a healing potion to cure it. Afterward, the butterfly will eat again to regain its health.

Note that if your butterfly’s health is below 50%, it will consume twice as much food as a butterfly with more than 50% health. This is to help it recover its health more quickly.
